Hailing from Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh, the Rao Brothers were decently ranked players in the state of Andhra Pradesh before their jobs beckoned them to Chennai. The eldest of the two, A. Srinivas Rao, a NIS, Patiala (Premier Sports Body of India) qualified Table Tennis coach, the 1st NIS coach from Tamil Nadu, an Andhra Pradesh State Junior Champion in Singles and Doubles (along with his brother) is employed with Income Tax, Chennai. The younger and vivacious A. Muralidhar Rao, an Andhra Pradesh University Champion for three consecutive years between 1972 and ’75, is employed with Central Excise, Chennai.
Their passion for the game of Table Tennis motivated them to do something more for the game, than playing the ping… pong balls.
They started coaching in the year 1983, at YMCA, Esplanade, Chennai, shifting their coaching stint to Don Bosco, Holy Angels, Santhome Hr. Sec. School, Chennai and at present coaching at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Schools and YMIA, Mylapore, Chennai for the last 20 years, churning out Champions at the National and International levels, day in and day out, year after year. It is their sheer perseverance, persistence and passion (the 3 P’s) for the Game that has made them churn out champions like Chetan Baboor, Raman, Indu, Shamini, M.S.Mythili, Bhuvaneswari, N. Arul Selvi, and their current prodigy A.Sharat Kamal, Arjuna Awardee and Olympian
